BLOG ENTRY 001: OPEN CHANNEL

This whole time I've been collecting puzzle pieces for an image I was unaware creating.

Loops, lyrics, half-built visuals, dreams scribbled down at 3am.

DREAM SOSS started as a design project making album art for musicians who couldn’t. Later I started using it as a one-man record label with UGGGY as the only artist.

I'd keep getting DMs anytime I dropped something - could be about the art, the mix, the presentation. People had questions about the process. So I started streaming on twitch, taking care to review music and the accompanying art. The show expanded to have very talented underground artists co-host, the audience benefitted, and we learned more about these entities. Lots of 40z and piss jokes later it became a scene.

SOSSWRLD. SOSSGANG.

A casual clique of loose affiliates, meeting each other on the canvas.

A maypole for whoever was orbiting the same creative chaos. Some couldn't hang. I believe the focus on art over facade was too penetrating for many. Some insisted we do more. These, I have come to learn, are my people.

The mantra was simple: take the work seriously, but not yourself.

When i was starting out, good resources felt rare—either too stiff, or made by people who didn’t really care. A lot of posturing honestly. Most often it felt like they wanted to make a customer or student out of you, breadcrumbing things into infinitude. Maybe they just were insecure to reveal they didn't have all of the answer.

Well, now the dream is manifest and the soss is ready to serve.

Dream Soss became a place. This website. A combination brass tap and dojo. Where the philosophers are always bit buzzed and the band plays long after close.

Maybe this site is held together with duct tape and popsicle sticks. But making a great website, or viral piece of content was never the goal. This place serves as a resting place for what doesn’t sit still, that which keeps vibrating with The Resonance.

Music reviews, thoughts that don’t go anywhere, loops or blueprints that might help someone make something. Kind of like that movie Jumanji, it's like I opened the box and played with the pieces, and now you it's someone else's turn to do the same. Maybe it's You.

A project built on the idea that nothing’s wasted - not the weird stuff, not even the silence.

The amount of ideas i had was always too big for one timeline and never felt quite "at home" jettisoned to disparate social platforms, lacking the mycelia to connect back to one another. Now we are whole. 🍄

So little to do, so much time. Wait. Scratch that, reverse it.

The past feeds the present, and the future shines through the static of the unknown.
